1.How long have you been self harming? Discuss why you started.
I did it my senior year of high school.
2. What part of your body is most affected by it?
my wrists. a punched my stomach and legs once, and tried to cut my thighs once, but it was really just my left fore-arm
3. What is your motivation to recover?
i know it’s a vicious cycle. the people who love me and who i love. the progress i’vemade.
4. Do you consider yourself “addicted”? why or why not?
yes. i’m like a recovering addict, but for cutting.
5. What part of self-harm do you dislike the most?
the disappointment that follows.
6. What about it do you enjoy?
the feeling. the scars.
7. list 10 activities that help you calm down.
i’m not going to include cutting - crying, drawing, talking, music, shower, tv, going for a walk, cuddling, sleep
8. What the most supportive thing anyone has said to you about self-harm?
idk
9. Have you ever taken pictures of your wounds? Discuss.
yes, but the picture was of someone’s initials i had written to stop myself.
10. How do you feel about your scars?
i wish they were easier to see. they’re an important part of me. i’m proud that i was strong enough to stop. they’re heard to see, and i feel like its a misrepresentation of myself. not because i define myself by it, but because it’s an important piece.
11. Strangest place (school, park, etc) you’ve ever injured yourself?
classroom in highschool.
12. Where do you keep your ‘tools’? (Your room, in a box, disposed of them?)
nightstand drawer
13. What is the biggest realisation about self-harm you’ve had?
it’s a vicious cycle. and also that it made me/influence me to hate myself.
14. Is there anyone you consider to be an inspiration in your recovery?
Max Bemis - i don’t even know of him self harming, but his story inspires me to be better
15. Do you visit any websites about self-harm? If so, what are they?

16. What advice would you give to someone about self-harm?
find other coping mechanisms. talk to someone you can trust. it will make things worse and consume you.
17. Do you know anyone else who injures themselves?
yes.

although i was sober, i always felt completely disconnected.

no, but i know it’s way more common than many people think

my boyfriend.

I have not cut in almost 4 years.

some positive ones about recovery.
